A man died Friday after being shot by a Flathead County Sheriff's deputy during an incident in the Emery Bay area near Hungry Horse Reservoir, according to the Flathead County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to a report of an assault involving a weapon on May 29. During the encounter, a deputy shot the man, who later died. The Sheriff's Office had not released the man's name as of Monday.
