The Lewis and Clark Library will celebrate the arrival of its new Mobile Library with a public block party on Monday, June 16, beginning at 5 p.m. in Anchor Park outside the library at 120 S. Last Chance Gulch. The event marks the formal launch of a modernized outreach vehicle that replaces the library's longtime Bookmobile service.
Attendees can tour the new vehicle, enjoy live music, and receive a free scoop of Rocky Road ice cream courtesy of Big Dipper. The library describes the gathering as a community celebration open to all residents.
Library officials say the vehicle has been rebranded from "Bookmobile" to "Mobile Library" to better reflect the range of services it will provide. Those services are expected to include books, technology access, programming, and general library services delivered directly to neighborhoods, schools, senior living facilities, and community events throughout Lewis and Clark County.
The Mobile Library arrived in May and is expected to be fully operational in June. Mobile library services have been suspended in the interim while the new vehicle was prepared for deployment. The June 16 event will serve as the public rollout.
