Composer and multi-instrumentalist Ben Cosgrove will perform at the Myrna Loy on Thursday, July 9. Tickets are $20.
Cosgrove, who is based in New England, has developed a following in Montana that might seem surprising for an instrumental act from far outside the region — but his music is rooted in themes of landscape, geography, and environment in ways that apparently resonate here. His work sits somewhere between folk and classical, composed for piano and a range of other instruments, and it's entirely original.
The Myrna Loy, Helena's nonprofit arts center on Park Avenue, regularly brings in touring musicians who don't always make it to larger Montana markets. A $20 ticket for a Thursday evening show is in line with the venue's typical pricing for mid-sized touring acts.
Doors and showtime details are available through the Myrna Loy's box office and website. The July 9 show is a single night only.
