The Canyon Creek Rural Fire Department will hold its annual Mother's Day Pancake Feed fundraiser on Sunday, May 10, offering all-you-can-eat breakfast and a live auction to benefit the volunteer department.

Adult tickets are $10, children 12 and under are $7, and children under 2 eat free. The breakfast menu includes pancakes, bacon, ham, eggs, coffee, and juice. Auction items include a gun safe, gift baskets, a camp chair, artwork, and gift certificates from local businesses including Murdoch's, Cenex, Sportsman's Warehouse, and Montana Steakhouse, among others.

The Canyon Creek Rural Fire Department, like the vast majority of fire departments in Montana, is staffed by volunteers. According to the event listing, more than 82 percent of firefighters in Montana serve on a volunteer basis. Fundraisers like the pancake feed are a primary way rural volunteer departments cover equipment, training, and operational costs not covered by tax levies.

The event is held at the Canyon Creek Rural Fire Department. Residents in the Canyon Creek area north of Helena are among those who depend on the department for fire and emergency response.
