Montana Book Company on Last Chance Gulch will host a free public conversation Monday, May 11, featuring filmmaker Leanne Allison discussing the book "Buffalo Lessons: How Bison Returned to Banff National Park." Allison will be joined in conversation by Corrie Williamson of American Prairie.
Allison is the wife of the late wildlife biologist and author Karsten Heuer, who helped lead the effort to reintroduce wild bison to Banff National Park — one of North America's most ambitious conservation projects. The book draws on behind-the-scenes photographs and firsthand experience from the reintroduction effort. Admission to the event is free.
The conversation connects directly to ongoing bison conservation discussions in Montana, where American Prairie has pursued its own large-scale prairie and bison restoration work on private and public lands in the state. Williamson's participation brings a local conservation perspective to a story rooted in Canada's national park system.
The event begins Monday evening at Montana Book Company. No ticket or registration information was listed; attendees are encouraged to check with the bookstore directly for details on start time and seating.
