The Helena City Commission unanimously approved a second change order for the city's 2024 CIPP Sewer Main Rehabilitation Project at its September 29th meeting, moving the multi-phase infrastructure effort another step forward without debate or public comment.

The project — designated as number 24-04 — uses cured-in-place pipe lining, a trenchless method that rehabilitates deteriorating sewer mains from the inside rather than digging them up. The technique is increasingly common in aging municipal systems and avoids the street disruption that comes with traditional pipe replacement.

The 5-0 vote came as part of the consent agenda, meaning no commissioner requested it be pulled for separate discussion. The dollar amount associated with Change Order Number Two was not publicly disclosed in commission materials reviewed for this report.

For Helena residents, the approval keeps one of the city's ongoing underground infrastructure projects on track heading into winter, when ground conditions make sewer work significantly more difficult to schedule.
