Friday's highs are expected to reach the mid-to-upper 80s and low-to-mid 90s — uncomfortable, but a preview of what's coming. Saturday through Monday, the heat intensifies, with some locations potentially setting new daily record high temperatures. Overnight lows will offer limited recovery time, staying in the 60s and low 70s across the valley.
The combination of extreme daytime heat and warm overnight temperatures is what concerns health officials most — the body needs cooler nights to recover from heat stress, and a multi-day stretch without that relief raises the risk of heat-related illness, particularly for older adults, outdoor workers, and anyone without air conditioning. Residents are advised to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, hydrate early and often, and check on neighbors who may be vulnerable. The National Weather Service has issued a formal Heat Advisory through Monday evening.
