Helena Public Schools is reinstating its School Age Child Care program for summer 2026, offering structured daytime supervision and activities for students entering first through sixth grade. The program runs weekly starting June 15, with more than 100 children participating daily, according to the district.
Activities will include science projects, arts and crafts, reading, guest speakers, and walking field trips around the Helena area. The district notes that children will walk up to a mile each way on field trips, and the program is best suited for students comfortable in an active, group setting.
The program runs in weekly sessions priced at $325 per child plus a $30 non-refundable activity fee for most weeks. The week of June 29 through July 1 is shortened due to the Independence Day holiday weekend and is priced at $195 plus the activity fee. Weekly themes include transportation and vehicles the first week, sports and health the second week, and myths and legends the third week, with additional weeks continuing through the summer.
Registration requires a non-refundable activity fee to hold a spot. Families are advised that payment deadlines and schedule change requests must be submitted in advance. Helena Public Schools has not yet announced a registration deadline.
