Edmund "Ed" Joseph Caplis, 62, of Helena, died March 4, 2026. He was born November 15, 1963, in Missoula, Montana, to Michael G. Caplis and Rose O. Caplis, née Cosner.

Caplis was the youngest of three children, joining siblings Kerry and Tim. His family noted that his birth carried a particular significance within the Caplis family: Ed was born on the same day his paternal grandfather and namesake passed away. The family moved from Polson, Montana, to Helena in the fall of 1964, where Ed would spend much of his life.
