Every Monday in July, the lawn of the Scott Hart Building on Sixth Avenue — directly across from the State Capitol — will host a fundraiser for the 27th annual Last Chance Community Pow Wow, featuring Pow Wow Indian Tacos and frybread for sale alongside live Native drumming and dancing from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The first date is Monday, July 6, and admission is free.
The taco sales serve as a direct fundraiser for the Last Chance Community Pow Wow, which has been a fixture on Helena's summer calendar for more than two and a half decades. The pow wow draws dancers, drummers, and visitors from across the region each year and is one of the more significant Native cultural events held in the capital city.
The Scott Hart Building lawn location, steps from the Capitol, puts the event in the middle of Helena's civic core during the lunch hour — an accessible spot for state workers, visitors, and residents on the Walking Mall. Organizers are asking the community to come out and support the fundraiser across all four Mondays in July.
Details on the full pow wow event, including dates and location, are expected to be announced separately. For now, the Monday lunch fundraisers are the public's first opportunity to support the 27th annual gathering.
