Montana WILD is running a free wildlife storytime series every Wednesday in October, and there are still sessions left for families to catch. Critter Tales runs October 7, 14, 21, and 28, from 9 to 9:45 a.m., and is designed for pre-K children and younger.
Each session pairs a picture book about one of Montana's so-called "spooky" species with a hands-on craft — the kind of programming that turns a Wednesday morning into something kids actually remember. No registration is required, which makes it an easy drop-in for parents and caregivers looking for something structured but low-barrier.
Montana WILD, the education center run by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks on the south end of town, has long used programming like this to connect kids to the state's wildlife before they're old enough for a fishing license. The October theme leans into the season without leaning too hard on Halloween — it's more great horned owls than ghosts.
