The fire has grown to an estimated 8 to 9 acres since igniting on Tuesday, July 28, with the cause still listed as undetermined.
Incident Commander Mike Tuffelmire is overseeing the response, which currently includes one suppression module of eight fire personnel and one Type — the update did not specify the additional resource type. The fire's location is described as 1.5 miles southeast of Crow Peak and 3.75 miles east of Elkhorn, putting it in the hills of Jefferson County between Boulder and the Elkhorn Mountains.
At 8 to 9 acres and three-quarters contained after nearly two weeks, the Queen Gulch Fire has remained relatively small. Crews will continue working toward full containment, and the forest service has not issued any public closures specific to this fire as of Friday's update.
