The long-vacant former Shopko building at 3101 N. Montana Ave. in Helena is being redeveloped into six leasable retail spaces, according to city documents. The project is valued at $1.55 million.

Dunham's Sports, a Michigan-based sporting goods chain founded in 1937, is listed in plans as one of the incoming tenants. The company operates roughly 250 locations nationally. Two Montana locations already exist — in Billings and Havre — with a third set to open in Kalispell within weeks.

The Shopko chain closed all of its locations in 2019, leaving the North Montana Avenue building largely empty since then. City documents do not identify the other tenants planned for the remaining five spaces.
