A wildfire in Jefferson County has burned 25 acres, according to incident reports identifying the fire as the Queen Gulch fire. The cause has not been determined.

Jefferson County sits directly south of Lewis and Clark County, and the Queen Gulch drainage is in terrain familiar to many Helena-area residents who travel U.S. Highway 12 toward Whitehall and Boulder. No structures or road closures were immediately reported in connection with the fire.

The fire comes as a Fire Weather Watch is in effect through Saturday evening for much of the region, including portions of the Helena National Forest. Residents with property or recreation plans in Jefferson County should monitor updates from the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation and local fire dispatch.
