The Helena Symphony Orchestra will open its new season with a Masterworks Concert at the Helena Civic Center on Saturday, September 12. The program is themed around the 250th anniversary of the United States and will feature works by Samuel Barber and Aaron Copland, conducted by Allan R. Scott.
Violin soloist Diana Cohen will perform Barber's Violin Concerto, followed by Copland's Third Symphony. The program also includes the world premiere of a piece by composer Marinescu titled "Our America." The Helena Symphony is billing the evening as a celebration of American classical music.
Following the concert, an Opening Night After Party will offer dinner and drinks for attendees. The Helena Civic Center is located near the Walking Mall on Lyndale Avenue. Season sponsorship information is listed on the Symphony's website.
