Two recurring community events are giving Helena residents reason to get out of the house this week — one requiring a card hand, the other requiring just a working brain and a willingness to be wrong in public.
The ACBL Sanctioned Duplicate Bridge Game returns Tuesday, October 13, at First Presbyterian Church, 535 N. Ewing Street. Games begin at noon and cost $5 to enter. Organizers note that ACBL membership is not required to play, making it accessible to anyone who knows their way around a bridge table — or wants to learn by sitting next to someone who does.
On the other end of the social spectrum, Mt. Ascension Brewing Co. hosts Free Trivia every Monday night, with comedian Kaiser Leib holding court as host. The October 12 edition is free to attend. Mt. Ascension has become a regular stop for Helena's Monday-night crowd, and Leib's hosting tends to keep the energy moving even when the questions turn brutal.
