The Myrna Loy is bringing Boyd Meets Girl to Helena on Thursday, November 5, for a performance that crosses classical training with a decidedly contemporary playlist. Tickets are $28.
The duo pairs Australian classical guitarist Rupert Boyd with American cellist Laura Metcalf, and their sets move between Debussy and Bach on one end and Radiohead and Beyoncé on the other. It's the kind of programming The Myrna Loy does well — serious musicianship without the stuffiness that keeps people home.
Boyd and Metcalf released their debut album in 2017, and it reached number three on the Billboard Traditional Classical chart, earning the GRAMMY Foundation's recognition as well. They've since toured internationally, which makes a stop at a 200-seat venue on Last Chance Gulch the kind of intimate evening that Helena punches well above its weight to land.
Tickets can be purchased through The Myrna Loy. The November 5 show is an all-ages event.
