It was a split Friday on the road for Helena's two high school programs, with Helena High's Bengals picking up wins in both volleyball and soccer while Capital High's Bruins dropped both their matches on August 29.
On the volleyball court, the Helena High Bengals traveled to Billings and swept the Skyview Falcons 3-0 in non-conference play. Meanwhile, Capital made the same trip to Billings and ran into a buzzsaw in Billings West, falling 3-0 to the Golden Bears in their own non-conference match.
In soccer, Helena High's varsity squad defeated the Flathead Braves 3-0 in a conference match — a result that counts in the standings as both programs build their cases for postseason positioning. Capital's soccer day went the other direction, with the Glacier Wolfpack handing the Bruins a 6-1 loss in conference play. Glacier, based out of the Flathead Valley, came to Helena and left with a convincing road result.
The diverging results leave Helena High with momentum heading into the next week of the prep schedule, while Capital will look to regroup before its next conference tests. Full schedules for both programs are available through the Helena School District.
