Student musicians with Ironhorse Youth Music spent Friday, May 15, performing at locations across Helena before capping the day with a spring concert — all of it free and open to the public.
The morning tour took students through a lineup of Helena landmarks and community spaces: Safeway at 7:45 AM, the Capitol Rotunda at 8:45 AM, Intermountain Children's Home at 9:45 AM, and St. Peter's Hospital at 11:45 AM. The final stop before the concert was the lobby of the Old Placer Hotel Building at 21 North Last Chance Gulch at 1:00 PM, one of the more recognizable addresses on the Walking Mall.
The spring concert followed at 4:00 PM. The tour format — moving performers through hospitals, care facilities, and public spaces before a formal concert — is a signature of Ironhorse's approach to connecting young musicians with the broader community, not just a recital-hall audience. Admission to the concert was free.
