Tim Sheehy's local office on July 27 to hold a memorial for more than 60 people they say have died as a result of federal government actions since 2025, including deaths connected to ICE enforcement operations. The group, organized by Indivisible Butte, included two teenagers who joined after passing by the gathering.
The memorial was a public act of witness as much as a political statement, with participants honoring individuals by name. The choice of Sheehy's office as the location reflected organizers' intention to direct their message at Montana's junior U.S. senator, who has been a supporter of the administration's immigration enforcement policies.
Indivisible Butte has been among the more active local chapters of the national Indivisible network in Montana, holding a series of visible actions over the past several months. The July 27 gathering was recorded and posted publicly by the group.
Sen. Sheehy's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the memorial.
