The Archie Bray Foundation is hosting a Second Year Showcase on Thursday, September 10, celebrating resident artists Jake Brodsky, Marian Draper, and Samuel Sarmiento as they move into their second year at the Bray. Admission is free.
The showcase is designed to give the public a window into what the residency program actually produces in its first year — not finished, polished work necessarily, but the research, experimentation, and creative evolution that happens when artists are given time and space to push their practice in new directions. For Helena residents, it's a chance to meet the artists working in their backyard and to see what's happening inside one of the most respected ceramic arts residency programs in the country.
Brodsky, Draper, and Sarmiento each bring distinct backgrounds and approaches to the Bray, and the September 10 event will offer insight into how their work has developed and where it's heading as they continue their residencies. The Archie Bray Foundation has been a fixture of Helena's arts identity since 1951, and its residency program draws artists from across the country and internationally.
