Montana Book Company on Last Chance Gulch has back-to-back author signings on the calendar this month, with Gwendolyn Gunn appearing June 13 and Sue Kerver on June 20 — both events free and open to the public. The bookstore has become a reliable venue for connecting Helena readers with Montana writers, and this June's lineup leans into that role with two distinctly different titles.

Gunn, a fantasy author, is signing the first installment of her new The Tragedy of Liana Incubore series, titled To Rise from Death. It's her debut entry in the series, with two follow-up books already scheduled for release this summer — July 7 and September 1 — making the June 13 signing the opening chapter of what shapes up to be a busy year for her. Readers who come in on the 13th will be getting in at the beginning of something the author clearly has mapped out well in advance.

Kerver's June 20 appearance is in support of The Starfish Chronicles, a memoir she describes as being about reclaiming voice and reconnecting with personal strength. The book follows a more personal, reflective arc than Gunn's fantasy work, offering a different kind of reading experience but the same essential proposition: a Montana author, in a Helena bookstore, talking about a book she made.

Both events are free. Montana Book Company is located on Last Chance Gulch in Helena's Walking Mall.
