Mountain View Park will host Helena's 11th Annual Fourth of July Community Celebration on Saturday, with free admission and a full schedule running from 3 p.m. through 10 p.m.
The afternoon kicks off at 3 p.m. with two concurrent events: a sidewalk chalk art competition called "Chalk Up the Block" and a basketball "Best of 10" Showdown. At 6 p.m., the Kids Push, Pull and Pedal Parade steps off, followed by live music, food vendors, and lawn picnicking through 10 p.m. Friendly competitions are scheduled throughout the evening.
Now in its eleventh year, the Mountain View Park celebration has become one of Helena's most consistent neighborhood Fourth of July traditions, drawing families from across the city to the park on the city's west side. The free admission and family-oriented programming make it a low-barrier option for the holiday.
Residents planning to attend should note that the chalk art and basketball events begin at 3 p.m., three hours before the main evening program. Parking near Mountain View Park can fill up early on the holiday.
